Workshop 1 - Introduction, Views and Templates

Workshop 1 introduces you to the concept of Mind Mapping as well as to the OpenMind 2 workspace. You will find out about the 5 different views to design in, Mind Map, Top Down, Left Right, Timeline and Outline. See examples of the 80+ project-based templates and how to make your own custom template. Learn about the 3 objectives that OpenMind 2 fulfils, outlining written documents, storyboarding and building multimedia presentations and creating timelines.

Workshop 2 – Setting Up Your Mind Map

In Workshop 2 you will learn how to build and develop a Mind Map, from root idea to main categories through to sub-categories. Start by brainstorming on a topic. Next, re-arrange your map and ideas by moving branches to any desired location. You can even color coordinate your branches if necessary. Learn how to view your Mind Map in the 5 different views.

Workshop 3 – Adding Images

In workshop 3, learn how to spice up your Mind Map by adding graphical elements! You are introduced to the Multimedia Catalog. Find out how to insert images from the Multimedia Catalog or insert custom images that you have taken with a camera, found on the web, scanned in or created in a graphics program.

Workshop 4 – Adding Text

Workshop 4 teaches you how to include text in your Mind Map. Discover how to take notes using the new Text Note Editor. OpenMind 2 will organize the notes for you, relating them to your chosen branch. Learn how to copy completed text files into the Text Note Editor. This workshop will also introduce you to the Attach Objects feature in OpenMind 2 by letting you create a link to an entire text file.

Workshop 5 – Adding Multimedia Content

OpenMind's ability to integrate multimedia into Mind Maps makes it an ideal tool for storyboarding and building presentations. In Workshop 5, learn how to attach external objects to branches and create interactivity. Objects include text files, pictures, videos, sound files, buttons, HTML links and Flash® elements.

Workshop 6 – Word Export and Import

In Workshop 6, discover how OpenMind 2 completes the first objective, outlining written documents. This workshop teaches you how to think about the Mind Maps branches as Main Headings and Sub Heading in a written document. You will see how the Mind Map branch order relates directly to the Table of Contents and structure of the written document. You will then use the Microsoft Word export wizard to create and view the Word document. Find out how to make changes to this Word document and re-import it to OpenMind 2 to update your Mind Map!

Workshop 7 – PowerPoint Export and Import

In Workshop 7, discover how OpenMind 2 completes the second objective, storyboarding and building multimedia presentations. This workshop teaches you how to think about the Mind Maps branches as individual slides in a PowerPoint presentation. You will see how the Mind Map branch order relates directly to the order of the slideshow and use the Microsoft PowerPoint export wizard to create and view the PowerPoint presentation. Find out how to make changes to this PowerPoint presentation and update your Mind Map by re-importing it to OpenMind 2.

Workshop 8 – HTML Export

In Workshop 8, discover how OpenMind 2 completes the second objective, storyboarding and building multimedia presentations. This workshop teaches you how to think about the Mind Maps branches as individual pages in a website. See how the Mind Map branch order relates directly to the page order of the website. You will learn how to use the HTML export wizard and view the final exported website.

Workshop 9 – Creating Timelines

In Workshop 9, learn how OpenMind 2 completes the third objective, creating Timelines. Find out how to add time dependencies to the branches of your Mind Map and choose between different timescales. See how to switch from Flat Display to Level Display to show the Sub Branches of a Main Branch. You will also learn how to export your Timeline as an interactive website.

Workshop 10 – Print Function

Workshop 10 will teach you how to use the Print Function in OpenMind 2. You can print from any of the Mind Map views or the Timeline view. Learn how to use the Page Spread feature to distribute the printed map over several pages.

Workshop 11 teaches you how to use the Pack and Go feature in OpenMind 2. Pack and Go lets you package your OpenMind 2 project file as well as all related and linked assets into a folder, a zipped file or a single OpenMind file.
